RECYCLED COTTON
How to take care of recycled cotton
Recycled cotton can be machine washed at a cold temperature of no more than 30 degrees. Use a washing bag when machine washing your garment and air dry with a hanger for a crease-free result. In between washes, refresh your garment with a fabric refresher. You can also spot-treat stains by hand instead of laundering the whole garment.
OpéraSPORT’s recycled cotton is made from pre-consumer waste of garments and apparel which comes from material discards and byproducts generated during the manufacturing process before a product reaches the consumer, encompassing manufacturing, production, and distribution stages, e.g. unsold items that might normally be disposed of as waste. The used materials are then shredded back into fibre form and spun into renewed yarns.
Using recycled cotton reduces the demand for water and chemicals in production, as well as reduce the demands for new raw materials. It prevents useful materials from being wasted and helps to reduce
carbon emissions.
WHY RECYCLED COTTON?
Cotton is breathable and absorbent in its nature, allowing it to wick moisture away from the body, provide good airflow and maintain a soft and comfortable feel against the skin.
Traditional cotton production can have a significant environmental impact due to various factors such as water consumption, pesticides and chemicals, soil degradation and energy use. Recycled cotton, on the other hand, offers a more sustainable alternative as it involves reusing and repurposing cotton fabric, reducing the need for additional resources and minimizing the environmental impact using recycled cotton also reduces the demand for water and chemicals in production, as well as reduces demands on new raw materials. It prevents useful materials from being wasted and helps to reduce carbon emissions.
