From start we have incorporated a sustainable and new way of thinking into our DNA. We do not work with seasons, but smaller editions with timeless quality items made of sustainable fabrics. We aim to mainly use recycled textile fibres from industrial waste, such as recycled silk and recycled polyester, but we also incorporate organic cotton into our editions.
Recycled silk is silk made from pre-consumer waste. Pre-consumer waste comes from any excess material created during the steps of material- and product manufacturing, e.g. selvage from weaving, fabric from factory cutting rooms, or excess production and unsold items that might normally be disposed of as waste. The used silk yarns are spun into new silk yarn and knitted/woven into fabrics.
Recycled polyester is made from consumer- or industrial waste materials such as used plastic bottles and apparel. Overall material that would otherwise have been sent to landfill or for incineration. Recycled polyester requires fewer processing stages, reduces CO2 emissions and consumes less energy during the production process compared to regular polyester.
Organic cotton is cotton that is produced and certified to organic agricultural standards. It is a natural fibre that’s grown organically without the use of pesticides. Organic cotton is an investment in water conservation, cleaner air, better soil and farmer livelihoods.
