AGENDA
At OpéraSPORT we try to minimize our footprint on global CO2 emissions by producing in the most responsible ways. From the very first collection, all fabrics besides cotton have been created from industrial waste. This includes silk, wool, polyester, and cotton.
If our cotton is not also recycled it is organic and GOTS certified.
All our collections are made to order, meaning we only produce the quantities our customers have ordered and what we believe our webshop can generate. Therefore, no access stock will be produced to minimize overproduction.
Right now, we operate with four collections a year. Spring, Summer, Fall, and Winter.
By doing this we are able to deliver and sell our products when they are most relevant to the changing seasons.
Production
All our production is currently in the outskirts of Shanghai, China. The factories we work with are essential for our ways of production since they continue to be a strong partner in sourcing our recycled fabrics besides accommodating our made-to-order requests.
It is essential for us that our factories also take social responsibility. Consequently, we only work with factories that are GOTS, BSCI and WRAP certified to secure fair wages and requirements for its employees.
Recycled Silk, Recycled Cashmere, Recycled Wool & Recycled Cotton
Recycled silk, - cashmere, - wool & - cotton is made from pre-consumer waste. Pre-consumer waste comes from any excess material created during the steps of material- and product manufacturing, e.g. selvage from weaving, fabric from factory cutting rooms, or excess production and unsold items that might normally be disposed of as waste. The used materials are shredded back into fiber form and spun into renewed yarns and knitted/woven into fabrics.
Recycled Polyester
Recycled polyester is made from consumer- or industrial waste materials such as used plastic bottles and apparel. Overall material that would otherwise have been sent to a landfill or for incineration. Recycled polyester requires fewer processing stages, reduces CO2 emissions, and consumes less energy during the production process compared to regular polyester.
Organic Cotton
Organic cotton is cotton that is produced and certified to organic agricultural standards. It is a natural fiber that’s grown organically without the use of pesticides. Organic cotton is an investment in water conservation, cleaner air, better soil, and farmer livelihoods.
